Updates of popular funding streams
- Jack Petchey foundation
In 2009 we are only accepting NEW applications from State Schools and Colleges.However, current members of the scheme also include Registered Charities, Not for Profit Organisations, State Schools, Colleges and Youth Organisations.
- Football Foundation
The Football Foundation is not accepting any new applications to the Small Grants Scheme (grants of up £9,000) until further notice. The Scheme will be moving to a timetabled decision making process and more information about dates for re-opening will be available in the New Year.The Football Foundation is not accepting any new applications to the Community Scheme (grants of £9,000 - £250,000) until further notice.
- Awards for all
The Awards for All programme is going to change its format from 1 April 2009. This does not mean that small grants funding is coming to an end; small grants programmes will continue to be available from the Lottery distributors. Awards for All is currently funded jointly by Arts Council England, Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England. From 1 April 2009 each of the Lottery distributors supporting the scheme will have their own small grants programmes up and running, meaning that applicants will have four separate and more tailored programmes of funding to apply to. As of 1 April 2009 the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) will run their own, new version of Awards for All, awarding grants of £300 to £10,000 to local communities for 2009-10.
Match funding
NATIONAL SPORTS FOUNDATION
This Foundation aims to bring public and private sectors together to provide a one-stop shop for community sport investment through a single web-based point of access for potential investors and applicants for funding. Investment will be made in three specific programmes: Fit for Sport; 2012 Kids; and Women into Sport.The Foundation matches sponsorship money from commercial or private investors. Therefore, to be eligible, a project must already have at least £50,001 in place so the Foundation can match it £ for £ with £50,000. Projects requiring less than £50,000 will not be supported

SPORTSMATCH
The Sportsmatch scheme for England encourages a sponsor to support a grass-roots sport and offers to double the pot of money available from the sponsor on a pound for pound matching basis Consequently, the sponsor experiences commercial benefits, and the organising body benefits by securing double the income for its project.Minimum award: £1,000; maximum award: £50,000. A special category offering a minimum award of £500 for schools also operates.

BT Community Website Builder
The BT Community Website Builder allows registered UK charities, non-profit making organisations and volunteer led groups or organisations to build and maintain their own website free of charge, all you need is a computer, an internet connection and a web browser. This scheme is operated by BT Volunteering and IK Software Limited. To qualify for use of the free service your organisation must be from the United Kingdom, providing a clear benefit to the local community, and be one of the following: Registered charity, Non-profit making organisation, Volunteer led group / organisation. All websites are manually checked, any website setup with incomplete registration information or that IK Software / BT deem to not qualify for the service will be taken off-line. If you are unsure if your organisation qualifies or you are an international / non-UK organisation, please contact BT providing full details of your organisation and its intended use of the website.

Donate a PC - Computer hardware for the Voluntary & Community Sector
There is a free 'matchmaking' service for individuals and organisations to donate un-needed hardware (computers, printers etc) to UK charities, not-for-profit organisations and educational establishments (hardware only - not software).It is primarily for those with only one or two items to donate and/or who can not use a suitable recycling organisation. However they also have a comprehensive list of organisations that have larger quantities of computer equipment to donate to charities.

Wilkinsons Helping Hands
As a family owned high street store, Wilkinsons strive to be Your Good Neighbour, and work with and support our local community, taking advantage of their growing team numbers and stores to help make a difference to lives nationally. To do this, every year they give 1% of our profits back to the community, giving to causes and organisations that their customers are passionate about. Apart from national sponsorship (currently RSPCA) they want to lend a Helping Hand to local community initiatives, groups and individuals that are in the community of their customers and stores. ASDA Foundation
The ASDA Foundation assists charities, people and projects within the UK that require financial assistance. The Foundation can only support a limited number of requests that have the direct support and involvement from ASDA colleagues.

Foundation for Sport and the Arts Grants
Assistance in the UK to further athletic sports, athletic games, recreation and the arts to improve the quality of life for the community. Priority is given to measures to increase participation in, and enjoyment of, sport and the arts regardless of levels of competence, and the active participation of young people. Excludes football activities.
Dickie Bird Foundation
Support for individuals throughout Great Britain with the aim of helping disadvantaged young people (under the age of 18) to participate in sport, to the best of their ability, in the sport of their choice, irrespective of their social circumstances, culture or ethnicity. By participating in sporting activities, it is hoped that health will be improved, physical education will be advanced, and chances both inside and outside sport will be enhanced.

Garfield Weston Foundation
Funding for projects in the UK in the general fields of: education; arts; health; environment; community; youth; religion; welfare; and social. There are no specific priorities for funding and a wide range of charitable activity is supported.
London, Greater - Community Cycle Fund
Grants for local groups in the Greater London area to hold events or initiate projects to promote the benefits of cycling in their neighbourhood, increase cycle use by commuters, promote family cycling, and aid opportunities for cycling within disadvantaged communities.
Lord's Taverners Foundation
Funding is available to encourage UK-based young people with disabilities to participate in sporting activities with the provision of manual sports wheelchairs, specially adapted minibuses and the support of the game of cricket at grass roots level.
William Wates Memorial Trust (London/S. East)
Grant support to enhance the lives of disadvantaged young people resident in London and the South East of England. The main focus is on sport, arts and education. Predominantly, the scheme will help to train and assist local people contributing to their communities.
City Bridge Trust - Bridging Communities
London is uniquely diverse, home now to people originally from all corners of the planet. More languages are spoken here than in any other global city and the strengthening of our economy is due in no small measure to the contribution of both settled and transient labour forces from overseas.
What will we fund?
- Leadership initiatives bringing together people from two or more different communities. These can be geographical, faith based, cultural, ethnic or communities of interest.
- Joint work involving different communities working together, on volunteering or active citizenship projects.
- Work delivered by third sector organisations providing adults who are not accessing mainstream courses with English Language skills.
- New, partnership work between mainstream and minority community organisations on a specific issue, resulting in improved services for both.

Deutsche Bank - Small Grants Fund
Deutsche Bank and Capital Community Foundation are pleased to announce a new small grants fund for 2009.The company has an established programme of corporate giving, which generally supports larger strategic initiatives. The Community Foundation attracted their interest in reaching smaller organisations which might be outside their main area of work, and beyond their immediate location in the City.
1. Education
- ·Retention - projects that ease the transition between primary and secondary schools, reduce absenteeism, and help prevent exclusion.
- ·Achievement - projects that raise people’s aspirations, achievements and attainment levels, for example in financial literacy, business awareness, functional and soft skills
- ·Progression - projects that educate, encourage, and prepare for progression into further and higher education, training and employment.
2. Community Development
· ·Community Sport - projects that build skills and achievements, improve community cohesion and participation and reduce crime / social exclusion.
· ·Educational Outreach - projects that work with people not in education, employment or training and guide them back into mainstream education, training or employment.
· ·Employment & Employability - supporting the development of both business and social entrepreneurs and working with those furthest from the labour market to help them find appropriate and sustainable employment.
· ·Homelessness – addressing the causes of homelessness and helping the homeless to re-integrate themselves back into society.

John Lyons Charity - Small Grants
Our aim is to enhance the conditions of life and improving the life-chances of young people through education.John Lyon’s Charity gives grants to support education and training, particularly for young adults; broaden horizons and encourage an appreciation of the value of cultural diversity through activities.We give grants to enhance recreation through sport, youth clubs and playschemes.The Small Grants Programme welcomes 'one off' grant requests of up to £5,000, with no repeat funding. Requests for over £2,000 will be subject to the completion of a short application form. Small Grants are considered up to six times a year.We favour:
- one-off small capital grants
- one-off summer schemes
- pump priming funds for small projects that might develop into full grant status
If a repeat request is expected in the following year applicants may be referred to the Main Grants Programme.
