About

Community Sports Coaching and Development has been established to provide support programmes for young people below elite level who are participating in sport for the purposes of health, fitness, and simply the enjoyment and social aspect of sporting activities.

We are conscious that the vast majority of people engaged in sport – even competitively to a high standard at junior levels – are highly unlikely to enjoy a long-term, full time professional career. Thus the primary aim of Community Sports Coaching and Development is to equip young people for alternative careers was supporting and sustaining their interest in sport.

We have a strong focus on coaching as this provides routes into alternative careers in the sports and leisure sector but also provide functional skills, personal development and employability programmes and qualifications.

Coaching is at the forefront of our training and development programmes and we utilise apply similar philosophies in our vocational and employability courses to those used in sports coaching, based around aiming high, working towards ambitious goals, always striving for improvement and supporting young people in being the best they possibly can be.

We offer two different Awards in Sports Coaching: These qualifications cover essential coaching knowledge that can be used across any sport.  Students learn how to plan, conduct and evaluate coaching activities. We offer Level 1 courses for those who are just starting out, as well as options at Levels 2 and 3 for more experienced coaches.
