PROJECT MANAGER – NOEL MAHER

Noel has worked in community sports coaching for over 20 years and is qualified football and boxing coach and over recent years has developed his project management skills as the lead for our ESF and SFA funded projects.  Noel is also the Senior Trainer for our Level 3 Sports Coaching course and holds the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) qualification. 

Furthermore, he is a fluent Spanish speaker and speaks and played the key role in the development of the partnership with Squared Circle, including visiting Spain to meet with their staff and facilities and view the accommodation that we propose to use for this project.  Noel’s skills, qualifications and experience, combined with his empathetic approach to supporting VET learners, means that he is ideally placed to undertake the project management role.

SPORTS COACHING TUTORS – CHRIS ZAH AND ANWAR UDDIN

Chris is an outstanding athletics coach who combines work with elilte level athletes with community based sports coaching at Mile End Stadium.  Chris was awarded the European Athletics Coaching Award for 2013 and is best known for his coaching of British hurdling star and World championship finalist Perri Shakes Drayton and is a coach to a talented group of athletes at Victoria Park and Tower Hamlets as well as a number of the UKs top 400m runners including Daniel Awde.  In addition to his stellar background in athletics coaching, Chris also holds the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training and the Level 3 Certificate in Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG). 

Anwar is the manager of Sporting Bengal United FC, a role he combines with working as a youth football coach in Tower Hamlets and as the lead in the ‘Fans for Diversity’ campaign for Kick it Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation.  Anwar is a former captain of League 2 side Dagenham & Redbridge FC and holds the Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Football and is currently working towards his UEFA B Licence.
